Kenya High Commission Botswana

About the Mission

The Mission has the mandate to implement Kenya’s foreign policy and strengthen bilateral relations with Botswana in all its aspects. The High Commission is also accredited to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) whose headquarters is in Gaborone. The current High Commissioner is Her Excellency Amb. Jean W. Kimani.

The Mission was opened as a consulate in December 1997 following a request by the Kenyan Community in Botswana to former President Daniel Arap Moi during his state visit to Botswana and was upgraded to a fully-fledged High Commission in 2001.

  • Protection and Promotion of Kenya’s national interests in Botswana
  • Promotion and enhancing bilateral relations
  •  Promotion of trade, educational and cultural exchange between the two countries
  • Promotion of Kenya’s interests in SADC and Regional Integration.
  • Promotion of tourism
  • Provision of  efficient Consular Services
  • Lobbying for international jobs and Kenya’s candidature in International Organizations
  • Promotion and protection of the interests of Kenyan citizens in Botswana
  • Promotion of employment opportunities for Kenyans in Botswana
  • Provision of protocol services to visiting delegations
